Annual Giving Officer – Direct Marketing

If you’re passionate about making a difference and thrive in a collaborative environment, this is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven team dedicated to philanthropy at its best.

This is an 18-month temporary position.

Our Background

At the University Hospital Foundation, we want to help people live longer, and better – especially those who would benefit from a new form of treatment, or life-saving surgery.

As agents of hope, we boldly seek solutions to seemingly insurmountable challenges, matching the determination and purpose-driven intensity of the healthcare teams we support.

In the past ten years, generous donations from individuals and our corporate and strategic partners have contributed nearly $220 million dollars to advance world-leading patient care at the University of Alberta Hospital, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and Kaye Edmonton Clinic, as well as ground-breaking research at the University of Alberta.

Your Purpose

Over the past five years, the community of donors supporting the University Hospital Foundation has grown and this position plays a critical role in continuing that growth. By doing so, the University Hospital Foundation will sustainably enhance its ability to generate revenue and deliver upon its promise to transform health in Alberta and around the world.

Your Role

As a valued member of the Development Department, and reporting to the Director of Development – Annual Giving, Retail & Gaming, you will apply exceptional project management and relationship building skills to the Foundation’s Annual Giving Program with a focus on Direct Marketing.

You will play a pivotal role in fostering vendor relationships to ensure day-to-day execution of programs, managing production and deployment timelines across Direct Mail, Telemarketing, Digital Direct Response, and other programs, facilitating Vendor Training on the Foundation’s Key Messages, Brand, and Cause Messaging, and collaborating with the Marketing & Communications department to align brand, storytelling, and achieve collaborative efficiencies.

You are perfect for this role if you demonstrate the ability to:

  • Collaborate with colleagues and vendors alike and effectively manage project timelines.
  • Execute data-driven strategies and technically complex programs.
  • Leverage understanding of key performance indicators, including response rate, average gift, cost to acquire, replacement ratio, revenue per name, etc.

Critical in revenue generation, you will communicate the Foundation’s objectives in a persuasive manner with all stakeholders through a strong understanding of the immediate priority funding needs. Focused on establishing, developing, and maintaining relationships with prospects and donors you will use your excellent interpersonal skills to build deep, meaningful relationships with donors, stakeholders and community partners.

What you Offer

Education:

  • A University Degree or College Diploma is considered an asset.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in a similar role or project management.
  • Two years of experience in fundraising or philanthropy.
  • Experience and familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or equivalent Customer Relationship Management database.
