2022 Cause

Each year, the University Hospital Foundation and Royal Alexandra Hospital choose causes that help meet some of the most pressing needs at Edmonton’s two largest hospitals. This year we are making changes to our hospital environment to enhance the health, wellbeing, and safety of our patients, and ease the stress on families when their loved one is receiving care in the hospital.

As northern Alberta’s only Level One Trauma Centre, the University of Alberta Hospital serves thousands of patients requiring urgent care. This means patients arriving at the emergency department are quickly transferred to surgery, without their families being able to see them. The transformed atrium will provide families a private, calming space to meet with surgeons for updates and to connect and comfort one another.
