Second Chances Benefit Concert

The Prairie States & Friends Presents: Second Chances Songwriters Round & Benefit Concert

April 27, 2024 - Doors open at 6 PM

Mat Cardinal, lead singer of the the multi award-winning country group The Prairie States, was diagnosed with kidney disease at the age of 10. His kidneys completely failed in his early 20’s and he was placed on dialysis for a year. During that difficult time it was determined his Dad, Robert, was a suitable candidate to donate one of his kidneys and in November 2012 Mat received his Dad’s kidney – a life-saving transplant. Mat wants to use his and his family’s journey to inspire others with a story of hope and healing while raising critically needed funds for the University of Alberta Hospital Transplant Program.

The University of Alberta Hospital Transplant Program is home to the most comprehensive organ and tissue transplant program in Canada – providing gold standard care to an area that includes more than seven million Canadians across Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nunavut, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories.

The Prairie States along with Nashville based songwriters Erik Dylan and Wyatt McCubbin (who have written for Luke Combs, Tracy Lawrence and many other country music stars) will be hosting a songwriters round and benefit concert on April 27th, 2024 in partnership with Cook County Saloon, Sea Change Brewing Company and 840 CFCW wrapping up National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week. It will be an inspiring evening of story-telling, music, friend-raising and fundraising with 100% of the proceeds being donated back to the transplant program that saved Mat’s life.
