Annual Giving Officer – Leadership Annual Giving

If you’re passionate about making a difference and thrive in a collaborative environment, this is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven team dedicated to philanthropy at its best.

Our Background

At the University Hospital Foundation, we want to help people live longer, and better – especially those who would benefit from a new form of treatment, or life-saving surgery.

As agents of hope, we boldly seek solutions to seemingly insurmountable challenges, matching the determination and purpose-driven intensity of the healthcare teams we support.

In the past ten years, generous donations from individuals and our corporate and strategic partners have contributed nearly $220 million dollars to advance world-leading patient care at the University of Alberta Hospital, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and Kaye Edmonton Clinic, as well as ground-breaking research at the University of Alberta.

Your Purpose

Over the past five years, the community of donors supporting the University Hospital Foundation has grown and this position plays a critical role in identifying donors who have the Linkage, Ability, and Interest to contribute at an enhanced level of giving. You will oversee the entire Donor Cycle, which includes identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors.

This role was established to secure donations between $1,000 and $25,000 from a growing pool of donors. By doing so, the University Hospital Foundation will sustainably enhance its ability to generate revenue and deliver upon its promise to transform health in Alberta and around the world.

Your Role

As a valued member of the Development Department, and reporting to the Director of Development – Annual Giving, Retail & Gaming, you will play a pivotal role in the fundraising success at the University Hospital Foundation.

Leadership Annual Giving (also known as Mid-Level Giving) is a burgeoning area of fundraising that plays a critical role in the overall fundraising success here at the University Hospital Foundation. Over the past five years, the community of donors has grown significantly, and this role has been established to maximize the Lifetime Value (LTV) of these donors. You will be responsible for working with a selection of donors with a personal touch to achieve your goals – most notably, to secure donations between $1,000 and $25,000.

You are perfect for this role if you demonstrate the ability to:

  • Personally secure donations from a large pool of donors.
  • Quickly establish a trusting rapport with donors and team members.
  • Deploying multiple channels of communication to reach donors and develop relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in Major Gifts for support and elevate donors to fully realize their philanthropic potential.

Critical in revenue generation, you will communicate the Foundation’s objectives in a persuasive manner with all stakeholders through a strong understanding of the immediate priority funding needs. Focused on establishing, developing, and maintaining relationships with prospects and donors you will use your excellent interpersonal skills to build deep, meaningful relationships with donors, stakeholders and community partners. You will guide donors through the Donor Cycle, encompassing identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
