Announcing the University Hospital Foundation’s 2022 Audrey Greenough Award of Merit Recipient

Each year, the University Hospital Foundation (UHF) hosts several successful fundraising events in the name of better health care, none of which would be possible without the support of our volunteers. It is our volunteers’ dedication and philanthropic spirit that make our signature events like no other.

In honour of Volunteer Appreciation Month this April, we hosted our second annual Volunteer Appreciation Celebration to celebrate our many volunteers and award the 2022 Audrey Greenough Award of Merit. In honour of Audrey Greenough and her years of outstanding service to the UHF, the award recognizes exemplary volunteer service, personal philanthropy and donor advancement in volunteers of the UHF.

We would like to congratulate David Finlay, the 2022 Audrey Greenough Award of Merit recipient, K.C. Volunteer on the UHF’s Board of Trustees since 2013, Finlay is a long-time supporter of our organization and mission. His passion and philanthropic expertise have impacted many corners of the organization: from his service on several committees including the Festival of Trees, Governance, Funding Priorities and Finance and Investment, to his experience as past Chair of the UHF’s Board of Trustees from 2019 to 2021, Finlay’s dedication to transforming and redefining health exemplifies the qualities of incredible volunteerism.

“I am humbled and honoured to receive this year’s Audrey Greenough Award of Merit from the University Hospital Foundation,” says Finlay. “Audrey Greenough’s legacy of volunteerism in our city is an inspiration. Without the contributions made by volunteers, many organizations would not have the resources to bring about the positive changes that they do in our community.”

Volunteers help make the impossible, possible

With the help of our passionate volunteers, the UHF has been able to raise millions of dollars for better health and health care at the University of Alberta Hospital site, and throughout our community. Our volunteers have put hours, days and years into helping us fulfill our mission, and our Volunteer Appreciation Celebration is a special occasion to show our gratitude for their support.

On behalf of the University Hospital Foundation and our community, we are grateful for the hard work all our volunteers give to help change health care in Alberta and beyond. Without our volunteers, we would not be where we are today.
