Heart Pledge Day
We’re proud to announce the community came together to raise $381,994, which is doubled to a whopping $763,987 thanks to a matching gift from the Jim Pattison Foundation.
Thank you to everyone who tuned in for Heart Pledge Day on up! 99.3 to listen as physicians, medical researchers, frontline healthcare providers, and patients shared their inspiring and personal stories to raise funds and awareness about the world-class cardiac care at the University of Alberta Hospital’s Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.

Mandy Rouselle
When Mandy’s heart began to fail, she was placed on a special life-support machine called ECMO to keep her alive. Next, surgeons inserted a VAD, a mechanical heart, to keep her blood pumping until she could receive a lifesaving heart transplant.
Today, Mandy is enjoying her life – time with her husband and daughter – after receiving a new heart. The innovations that saved her life were only possible thanks in part to funds raised for the University Hospital Foundation through Heart Pledge Day.

Heart Wall
Carl Rosenau knows a thing or two about life-saving heart care at the Maz, in 2010, Carl underwent successful quadruple bypass surgery, and had his aortic valve replaced.
Sponsoring the Rosenau Heart Wall is Carl and his entire family’s way of showing where their heart is.
With a gift during Heart Pledge Day, you earn your chance to do the same. Provide your name, or the name of a loved one who received care at the Maz, and we’ll add it to a heart to be proudly displayed on our heart wall.
Every dollar we receive during heart month makes a difference in the lives of the thousands of people who receive care at the Maz each year.
